The All-Ukrainian Children’s Drawing Contest “Happy Ukrainian Children on a Horse” was founded by the Charitable organisation “Hippotherapy Center “Spirit” in Kyiv and the Association of Hippotherapists in Ukraine. With the support of partners – the National Academy of Arts and Architecture,\u00a0 Children’s Academy of Arts in Kiev , Museum of Books and Printing of Ukraine. This competition aims to deeply touch the layers of morality, culture, and compassion in the upbringing of the younger generation. Above all, compassion, because our society mostly indifferent to the pain of others. The result of the art competition “Happy Ukrainian Children on a Horse” should be healing from different kinds of illnesses for many children. This will be possible due to selling calendars with the winners’ drawings and with the support of benefactors who are close to this problem.<\/p>\n
Children, just by participating in the competition, are already performing an act of kindness towards their peers deprived of a happy childhood. The educational part of the competition involves a deeper understanding of the symbolic meaning of the totemic Ukrainian animal – the horse (which represents the power of goodness and the afterlife, the speed of thought and physical strength, the caretaker, best friend, wise one, seer) and its current real role in healing many ailments (thanks to a method called hippotherapy. Hippotherapy was used by Hippocrates and is now widely developed in America and Europe). Hippotherapy centers are rare in Ukraine, and with the development of industrialisation, the horse loses its sacred meaning for our children, as well as their fascination with it. This competition can bring back at least a part of the lost love for this great wise healer animal.<\/p>\n
The financial, material, and moral rewards of the competition should encourage serious participation and presentation of their creativity by the participants. This approach aims to develop financial literacy in children. Diligent and worthy work should be rewarded. A competition among the best creators will not only allow them to present themselves and their talent to a wide audience but also provide opportunities for obtaining higher quality education and well-paid jobs in the future. Children creating in the depths of Ukraine will have the opportunity to present themselves in the capital at the exhibition and on the websites of the competition partners. Another highlight of the competition will be the participation of works on a non-competitive basis. The works of such participants will be displayed on the organisers website and evaluated based on one criterion – sincerity in expressing the theme.
